AlertMartin is a free service provided by Martin County that allows Emergency Management, Fire Rescue, Utilities, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, and municipal partners to send important public safety messages and other timely warnings by phone, text, or email.

Martin County Emergency Management wants to help residents be prepared, no matter the threat. Our community has already witnessed the devastating impacts that both health and natural disasters can cause.

US Chamber of Commerce Foundation

Small businesses are highly vulnerable and can lack adequate resources to focus on preparedness actions. Having a disaster plan can mean the difference between your business recovering after a disaster or closing forever. This resource educates businesses on how to prepare for disasters of all kinds while building flexibility to handle potential business interruptions.

Insurance Institutes for Business & Home Safety

Building a disaster recovery plan to help businesses continue and perform the most critical operations to help reduce short- and long-term losses.

FEMA Ready Business

The Federal Emergency Management Agency created the Ready Business website to assist businesses in dealing with a variety of hazards: natural hazards like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes; health hazards such as widespread and serious illnesses like the flu; human-caused hazards including accidents and acts of violence; and technology-related hazards like power outages and equipment failure.  The Ready Business program helps business leaders make a preparedness plan to get ready for these hazards.

SBA Emergency Preparedness

The U.S. Small Business Administration offers an emergency preparedness website with tools to assess your business for risk, create a business continuity plan, and learn about the low-interest disaster recovery loans offered by the SBA.

CISA Small and Medium Business

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency guides small and medium businesses about cybersecurity, ransomware, bombing prevention, and active shooter preparedness.

When local emergency management officials and law enforcement have determined the area is safe and secure for the private sector to re-enter following a disaster, the focus will shift to community recovery.

Florida Division of Emergency Management

The Recovery Bureau works to maximize disaster assistance to eligible public entities, individuals, and families through various State and Federal disaster assistance programs. These programs help to rebuild lives and communities that have been impacted by a major disaster and begin the recovery process. 

Small Business Emergency Bridge Loans

The Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan program provides short-term, zero-interest working capital loans intended to “bridge the gap” between a disaster’s impact on a business and its securement of longer-term recovery funding, such as federally or commercially available loans, insurance claims, or other resources.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance

The purpose of DUA is to provide benefits and reemployment services to individuals whose employment or self-employment was lost or interrupted by a major disaster. 

Dislocated Worker Grant

National Dislocated Worker Grants are awarded for temporary employment to workers affected by major dislocations, including natural disasters. Disaster relief employment can be temporary jobs that address the structural and humanitarian needs of residents of an area that has suffered a federally declared emergency or major disaster.

SBDC Disaster Assistance

Whether your business has been impacted by a natural or manmade disaster or economic downturn, the Florida SBDC Network provides access to the disaster capital, funding, and resources businesses needs to recover, rebuild, and grow.

SBA Small Business Loans
The Small Business Administration provides low-interest disaster loans to businesses of all sizes, private non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters for physical and economic damage caused by a declared disaster. SBA disaster loans can be used to repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery and equipment, and inventory and business assets damaged or destroyed in a declared disaster.
