Earlier this year, we announced the expansion of Palm City manufacturer APEX Waterjetting. Now, they are announcing the new patent-pending StripeBot, an innovative, automated system for cleaning pavement and removing pavement coatings. It combines the Panther robot platform with APEX Waterjetting Global’s Stripe Blaster head to offer a fully automated or remote-controlled solution for cleaning pavement and removing coatings, such as pavement markings and runway rubber, from surfaces.
Traditional pavement marking removal methods often involve high levels of manual labor and expose workers to potentially hazardous environments, including dangerous machinery and high-pressure water jets. Additionally, current methods rely on human precision, leaving room for operator error, which can result in inefficient removal processes or damage to the underlying surface.
The StripeBot addresses these challenges by automating the cleaning and removal process. The robotic system removes the need for a human operator to be near the high-pressure water system, significantly improving safety. It also enhances precision, thanks to its onboard camera and set perimeters, which allow it to direct the removal power specifically to the intended area, reducing waste and over-removal.
