Since its inception in early 2023, Indian River State College’s Advanced Manufacturing Hub has focused on building strong partnerships with industry and community leaders, including the Business Development Board of Martin County, to cultivate a sustainable manufacturing ecosystem on the Treasure Coast.
The 2024 Manufacturing Month has been a milestone-filled time for the Indian River State College’s Advanced Manufacturing Hub, which celebrated key achievements. Mechatronics apprentice Jorge Pena was honored as Florida’s Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year. We surpassed 100 graduates of the Computerized Numerical Control Machining Bootcamp, teaching fundamental skills in machining. We launched new courses in industrial automation, adding Industrial Fluid Power Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers. We also made substantial progress toward completing precision fabrication training facilities by adding manual machine and metrology training spaces. These accomplishments underscore the College’s commitment to supporting our community by advancing skilled training and innovation in manufacturing education.
Recognizing the significant manufacturing workforce gap, the College’s Advanced Manufacturing Hub has adopted a two-fold approach to addressing it: upskilling the existing workforce and bringing in new talent to support local manufacturers. This strategy has already shown promising results in such a short period of time, with over 10 Martin County manufacturing companies taking advantage of current training opportunities. These Martin County companies include Pace Machine and Tool, Power Systems Manufacturing, Awareness Technology, Daher, and Revolution Prototype, to name a few.
Indian River State College’s manufacturing training programs include:
- Industrial Maintenance and Automation
- Precision Fabrication
- Manufacturing Leadership
All courses are accelerated, aligned with nationally recognized industry certifications, and designed to offer a swift path to employment. Enrollment for the January 2025 Industrial Maintenance courses and the CNC Bootcamp sessions is now open.
