Manufacturing today is far from the outdated stereotypes of dirty factory floors and mindless assembly line work. At Indian River State College’s Advanced Manufacturing Hub, we’re breaking these misconceptions by offering cutting-edge training programs that prepare students for the modern manufacturing landscape—one filled with technology, precision, and rewarding career opportunities. Here’s what’s happening at Indian River State College’s manufacturing programs this spring.
New Faculty Expanding Our Expertise
Bill Adamski, a Manual and CNC Machinist specializing in Engine Combustor Details and Assemblies with Pursuit Aerospace, joined our squad in February 2025. Bill brings four decades of experience in manual and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining. His extensive knowledge and skills will help us build a machining program precisely calibrated to meet the needs of local manufacturers.
Precision Machining Training Program Launch
The inaugural class in Precision Machining will launch on April 14th, 2025. This 16-week intensive program is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills required for manual machining and CNC operation. The comprehensive, hands-on learning experience makes it ideal for those looking to quickly develop expertise and gain employment in precision manufacturing processes. Topics include an introduction to machining, industrial safety, shop math, measurements, metrology, tooling, blueprint reading, inspection, manual milling, turning, and CNC. America’s Cutting-Edge (ACE) CNC Bootcamp Celebrates Two Years
America’s Cutting-Edge (ACE), a nationwide initiative to advance and develop CNC machine tool technology, is celebrating its two-year milestone at IRSC. Funded by the IACMI – The Composites Institute, the ACE program was founded at Indian River State College in April 2023. During this short two-year span, we’ve hosted 14 sessions and graduated over 130 students. This 40-hour training is free and introduces students to machining, machining costs, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and more. Industrial Maintenance and Automation Training
Enrollment is now open for accelerated courses and the apprenticeship in industrial systems maintenance starting in August 2025. This training prepares students for careers in automated high-tech production, manufacturing, and distribution fields. Students will learn the theory, repair, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical components, fluid power, and Programmable Logic Controllers integrated into larger automated systems. Prospective students can access this training through stackable, fast-track 16-week courses or a one-year apprenticeship in mechatronics. Our staff will help determine which format works best for each student. More information and registration can be found here: https://irsc.edu/programs/advanced-manufacturing-hub/
