Executive Director Position Opening Announced

The Business Development Board of Martin County, Inc. (BDB) is seeking an individual to serve as its next Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the leadership and management of the BDB under the strategic policy direction set by the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five to eight years of progressively responsible experience, including management experience. Economic development experience is preferred, however, due to the wide range of businesses the BDB works with, operational experience in a variety of business, governmental, or not-for-profit entities may qualify for the required experience. Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to banking, finance, community development, project management, entrepreneurship, managing a small professional office, etcetera. Relationship building is most important. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of working with C-Suite executives and public officials to build cooperative relationships. Local knowledge is important. He or she must have the ability to develop a good understanding of the Martin County economic environment. Understanding non-profit funding is important. Some not-for-profit or government experience is preferred (volunteer experience counts).

A bachelor’s degree is required. However, relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Benefits include:

  • $250 per month car allowance.
  • 100% paid employee Blue Cross health insurance and paid life insurance.
  • Two weeks of paid vacation to start, increasing to three weeks after two years.
  • Sick leave is accrued at the rate of one-half day per month.
  • A pre-tax retirement matching contribution of up to three percent (3%) of salary is provided.
  • Relocation assistance may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    In-person presence is expected. Remote work is not practical for this position. The person appointed will
    commit to relocate his/her residence to Martin County within one year of employment.
