Charlene Hoag Leadership Award Winners Celebrated

On December 8, the Business Development Board of Martin County and Bank of America celebrated economic excellence at its annual awards celebration. “This year’s recipients represent leaders and businesses that have demonstrated innovation, excellence, and overall business success,” said Susan Rabinowitz, BDB board president, and Bank of America Market president. “We congratulate each winner and look forward to seeing their future accomplishments.”

Among the highlights and celebrations of winners announced before the event was the reveal of the prestigious Charlene Hoag Leadership Award winner. Kelly Johnson, vice president of R.V. Johnson Insurance and recipient of the 2022 Charlene Hoag Award, was on hand to divulge to the sold-out audience who the deserving recipients would be for 2023.

“Charlene Hoag is not only remembered for her years of service to the community but also for her spirit – her willingness to address tough issues and find solutions, her involvement in diverse communities, her grasp of our economy’s challenges and opportunities, and her advocacy to strengthen it, “said Johnson.” She left a powerful example of what a distinguished Martin County leader looks like. And the 2023 Honorees, Tom and Sue Whittington wholeheartedly embody those values.”

“We have no words to properly express how humbled and honored we are to be recipients of the Charlene Hoag Leadership Award,” said Sue Whittington. “Very few things surprise me, but this award did. The legacy and the shoes left behind by Charlene to fill are huge, but we are up to the challenge, especially for this place we love and call home, Martin County.”
