Commercial banking veteran joins Business Development Board of Martin County as economic coordinator
STUART—The Business Development Board of Martin County is proud to announce the hiring of Christina Hunter as its new economic development coordinator.
With her background in commercial banking and business-advisory services, Hunter brings to the organization a strong grasp of the challenges around accessing capital, devising and executing effective financial strategies and other challenges that can hinder small businesses from achieving sustainable growth and job creation.
“We’re very excited to add someone with Christina’s experience to the team,” says William Corbin, executive director of the BDBMC. “She knows how to relate to the realities that small business owners must endure as they navigate the commercial lending landscape, regulatory environment and obstacles impeding their pathways to success. Most importantly, she knows how to recommend and execute the strategies they need to clear those hurdles and keep moving forward.”
As economic development coordinator with the Business Development Board of Martin County, Christina will further bolster the BDBMC’s emphasis on business retention and attraction and deepen the reach of its Pulse program, which helps equip local businesses with essential resources and partnerships to expand their opportunities.
“Joining the BDB team is a special opportunity both professionally and personally,” says Hunter. “For more than a decade I’ve had the privilege of serving in key leadership positions in the commercial banking and nonprofit sectors. The experience sharpened my understanding of how larger economic policies affect the businesses, services and charities that make our community function. I look forward to applying those insights to assisting them and helping advance the BDB’s mission of strengthening Martin County’s economy.”
