Pulse Program: Supporting Martin County Businesses Through Direct Engagement

BDBMC Pulse Program LogoStrong local economies are built on strong local businesses. That is why the Business Development Board of Martin County (BDBMC) created the Pulse Program, a proactive business retention and expansion initiative designed to support the success of Martin County businesses.

The Pulse Program connects BDBMC directly with local employers through personalized, in person business visits. These conversations provide valuable insight into the opportunities, challenges, and needs facing businesses across Martin County and help shape economic development strategies that support long term growth.

What Is the Pulse Program?

The Pulse Program is a structured business outreach initiative focused on strengthening relationships with existing businesses. During a Pulse Visit, BDBMC representatives meet with business owners, executives, and managers to learn more about their operations, workforce needs, expansion plans, and overall business climate concerns.

Each visit typically lasts about one hour and is centered on listening, learning, and identifying ways to support the business. There is no sales presentation and no cost to participate.

Why Is the Pulse Program Important?

Existing businesses are the foundation of Martin County’s economy. By engaging directly with employers, the Business Development Board gains real time information that helps identify trends, address challenges, and connect businesses with resources that can support growth and success.

Information gathered through Pulse Visits helps BDBMC:

  • Support business retention and expansion efforts
  • Identify workforce development needs
  • Connect businesses with local, regional, and state resources
  • Understand infrastructure and permitting challenges
  • Strengthen the county’s economic development strategy
  • Promote job creation and private sector investment

Most importantly, the program ensures that the voices of local businesses help shape the future of economic development in Martin County.

What Should Businesses Expect?

A Pulse Visit is an informal and productive conversation focused entirely on your business. Discussions often include:

  • Business growth opportunities
  • Workforce recruitment and training needs
  • Infrastructure and transportation concerns
  • Permitting and regulatory challenges
  • Supply chain issues
  • Market trends and future plans
  • Resources that may help your business succeed

Following the visit, BDBMC may provide introductions, referrals, information, or assistance designed to help address specific business needs.

We Invite Your Business to Participate
