The Business Development Board of Martin County recently named Dan Hudson- veteran administrative executive experienced in managing municipal and county governments along the Treasure Coast, South Florida, and the Space Coast–as part-time interim executive director of the organization.
Joan Goodrich, executive director of the BDB for the last five years, is relocating to the west coast of Florida.
“I’m grateful for the confidence of the BDB board of directors and for the opportunity to serve the organization during this transition,” says Hudson. “A lot of great things have been achieved by the BDB in recent years and we’ll continue working closely with our partners, colleagues and associates to maintain the momentum.”
Hudson brings a notable level of breath and depth of local governments to the interim position. In addition to his time as Stuart city manager from 2006 to 20011, Hudson has extensive experience with Martin County. From 1993 to 2006, he served as deputy county administrator, interim administrator and administrative services director.
Prior, Hudson served as budget director, manager and analyst for Brevard County, Broward County, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Florida Water Management District. Most recently, he stepped in to fill the interim town manager position at Sewall’s Point before the hiring of Bob Daniels.
Troy McDonald, vice chair of the BDB, noted as key assets Hudson’s varied service to local governments and preference for fulfilling the role only on a temporary basis during the transition.
“Dan Hudson is precisely the caliber of leader we need for the time being,” says McDonald. “He’s extremely well versed in county government practices and policies, a reliable administrator with diverse experience as an interim director and he’s made clear that he has no interest in pursuing the position long-term.”
Susan Rabinowitz, chair of the BDB, thanked Goodrich for her service. “We’re incredibly grateful for Joan’s leadership and dedication,” says Rabinowitz. “She especially excelled at generating momentum around expanding our networks of strategic partners and increasing excitement and engagement about the importance of strengthening our local economy. We’ll miss her and wish her well.”
