Led by Chairperson Shannon Armstrong, Director of Human Resources at Martin County School District, and Vice Chairperson Mike England, owner of Express Employment Professionals, the team invited the Marine Industry Association of the Treasure Coast and Indian River State College to collaborate on the meeting hosted at the Indiantown Marine Center.

Following a tour of the marine center, Jim Allen from Chapman School of Seamanship and Bob Zaccheo from Project Lift shared with the nearly 30 participants what they are actively doing to train young adults in the various trades, preparing them for careers in the industry, and the challenges of getting the graduates placed.

“I want to thank the BDB for arranging the informative meeting at the Indiantown Marine Center. We made significant progress in opening a frank discussion regarding opportunities and roles that will grow the marine industry in Martin County,” said Michael Schemel, Director of Development, IRSC. The issues raised will help us meet the community’s needs. They have already spurred conversations that will allow us to serve the constituents at the meeting even better.

The Talent Advancement Team will meet again in July and focus on the manufacturing industry. To learn more about this team, please email Inez van Ravenzwaaij or call 772-872-2660.
