BDBMC and South Florida Manufacturers Association Strengthen Partnership to Support Martin County Manufacturers
The Business Development Board of Martin County (BDBMC) and the South Florida Manufacturers Association (SFMA) are strengthening their collaboration through a strategic partnership focused on helping Martin County manufacturers grow, compete, and succeed.
The partnership brings together the BDBMC’s economic development resources and business retention and expansion efforts with SFMA’s manufacturing expertise, industry connections, and technical resources. The organizations share a commitment to supporting existing manufacturers, developing the local workforce, encouraging innovation, attracting new investment, and strengthening Martin County’s manufacturing ecosystem.
For local manufacturers, the partnership means greater access to coordinated assistance. BDBMC and SFMA will work together through the BDBMC’s Pulse business visitation program, share industry intelligence, identify challenges and opportunities, and connect manufacturers with workforce solutions, financing, site selection assistance, technical resources, and other programs that can support growth.
The partnership will also expand opportunities for Manufacturers Roundtables, educational programs, industry tours, Manufacturing Day activities, workforce initiatives, and collaborative projects focused on advanced manufacturing and technology adoption.
“This partnership gives our manufacturers another layer of support and expertise,” said Troy McDonald, Interim Executive Director of the Business Development Board of Martin County. “By working more closely with SFMA, we can identify manufacturers’ needs earlier, connect them with specialized resources, and create more opportunities for workforce development, innovation, and expansion. Ultimately, this is about making Martin County an even stronger place to manufacture and grow a business.”
Pete Previte, Business Advisor with the South Florida Manufacturers Association and a member of the BDBMC Board of Directors, sees the partnership as an opportunity to connect manufacturers more directly with resources designed specifically for their industry.
“Manufacturers face challenges that are often very specific to manufacturing, from workforce and technology to productivity and supply chain issues,” Previte said. “This partnership brings SFMA’s manufacturing knowledge together with the BDBMC’s local relationships and economic development resources. That combination will help us provide manufacturers in Martin County with more targeted support and stronger connections to the resources they need to compete and grow.”
Under the agreement, BDBMC will continue serving as Martin County’s lead economic development organization, while SFMA will provide industry focused programming, networking, best practices, advocacy, and insight into emerging manufacturing needs.
Together, the organizations are building a more coordinated approach to supporting one of Martin County’s key industries and creating an environment where manufacturers can invest, innovate, expand, and create jobs.
